Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) was developed by Gary Craig, a Stanford University trained Engineer, back in 1992. He studied psychologist Roger Callaghan's TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and believed it could be simplified so that a lay person could use it easily and effectively. Consequently he has taught us, that by using our fingers to tap on a number of ‘acupressure’ points we can get relief, often total and complete - not only from the negative emotions that rule our lives such as stress, grief, anger, loneliness, fear, sadness, a sense of worthlessess and depression - but also from things like addictions, phobias, PTSD and panic attacks. The list is endless and “try it on everything” is his mantra.

I never understood before how big a part our unconscious/subconscious minds played in controlling our lives. Sometimes, the effects of a traumatic event in childhood can trigger all kinds of emotional reactions in adulthood, such as fear, stress, anger or hopelessness. Maybe a piece of music could transport us back to our teens and, depending on the what event we connect it to, we can either smile and dance or be saddened and depressed by a flood of unhappy memories. And we can feel powerless in the face of it as if there's no way to stop it. That is, until now…. If you are the “seeing the stars” kind of person you can still benefit from using EFT in ways you wouldn't even realise. It works amazingly with physical problems ranging from simple headaches to really serious illnesses.
